Winter and Summer Registration

Who Can Register for Summer or Winter Courses

Students who attended the University during the most recent semester can register for winter or summer courses once they have applied for reenrollment and before receiving a decision. Students who did not attend during the most recent semester cannot register for winter or summer term until their reenrollment application has been approved.

For example, a student who attended the University for the fall 2013 semester can register for the winter 2014 semester once he or she submits a reenrollment application. A student who did not attend during the fall 2013 semester can register for the winter 2014 semester once his or her spring 2014 reenrollment application has been approved.

A student who attended the University for the spring 2014 semester can register for the summer 2014 semester once he or she submits a reenrollment application. A student who did not attend during the spring 2014 semester can register for the summer 2014 semester once his or her fall 2014 reenrollment application has been approved.

How to register

The Office of Extended Studies processes winter and summer term registration. Please visit www.oes.umd.edubefore attempting to register for winter or summer courses.

Why Register

Reinstatement applicants should note that the Faculty Petition Board may consider winter and summer grades. However, it is often necessary to release reinstatement decisions prior to the availability of summer or winter term grades. Winter or summer grades may also serve as the basis for an appeal if they have a significant effect on your cumulative GPA, but do not raise it to a 2.00.
