Past Applicants Overview

I received a reenrollment decision for a previous semester

Many times the Faculty Petition Board requires reinstatement applicants to enroll at another institution and earn a minimum GPA/credit level before returning to the University. If you have received such a decision in the past, you can return to the University once you have done the following two things:

  1. Complete the steps on the left to submit a new application for reinstatement.
  2. Submit official transcripts showing that you have completed the requirements of your past decision to: Student Success Office. 0110 Hornbake Library, South Wing. University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742

The Faculty Petition Board also sometimes requires reinstatement applicants to take a semester break from the University and submit a signed graduation plan before returning to the University. If you have received such a decision in the past, you can return to the University once you have done the following two things:

  1. Complete the steps on the left to submit a new application for reinstatement.
  2. Submit a graduation plan that is signed by a college advisor, not a department advisor, to the Student Success Office via email (rr-admit@umd.edu) or fax (301.405.8635).

I want to appeal my reenrollment decision for the current semester

You may appeal your reenrollment decision, only if: 1) you have new information that you did not include in your original reenrollment application, or 2) your circumstances have changed since you submitted your original reenrollment application.

You can only appeal a decision for the current/upcoming semester. For example, if you were denied reenrollment for the Fall 2016 semester, you cannot appeal that decision during the Spring 2017 semester, instead you must submit a new reenrollment application.

To submit your appeal, please complete the appeal form and write a brief, one-page letter and email the letter and form to rr-admit@umd.edu. Refer to your email as “Appeal” in the subject line and include your full name and student identification number at the top of the email. You may place the text of your letter in your email’s body. Remember to include the new information that was not submitted with your application.
