Approved for Re-enrollment Next Steps
Welcome back to the University of Maryland! Below are some important steps to help ensure a smooth transition as you re-enroll.
1. Meet with an academic advisor
Schedule a meeting with an academic advisor to discuss your course schedule for the upcoming semester and create a plan for a successful academic experience.
2. Update Your Four-Year Plan
Review and update your Four-Year Plan to reflect the necessary steps to graduate on time.
3. Familiarize Yourself with the Schedule of Classes
Use the Schedule of Classes to explore available courses and check important deadlines.
4. Contact International Students & Scholars Support Office
If you are an international student, reach out to the International Students & Scholars Support to ensure that all required paperwork has been submitted.
5. Contact Financial Aid and Housing Resources
If you receive financial aid, contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to address any updates or questions.
• Review the requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirements.
If you are interested in University Housing, contact the Department of Resident Life.
6. Accessibility and Disability Services
If you’ve had accommodations in the past, connect with Accessibility and Disability Services to begin the process of requesting accommodations again.
7. Review Policies
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirements
Students are required to achieve a 2.0 GPA to maintain satisfactory academic progress. A GPA under 2.0 is considered unsatisfactory performance. Students with a GPA under 2.0 will be placed on Academic Probation.
Academic Probation and Dismissal Policy
• Students who were on probation or dismissal last semester must raise their cumulative GPA to 2.00 by the end of their first re-enrolled semester.
• Those returning on probation or dismissal will need electronic advising stamps from an academic advisor to register for classes.
Course-Related Policies and Resources
Review information about many of the policies and resources that may impact your academic career.
Repeat Course Guidelines
Review the guidelines to determine if repeating a course is appropriate.
Academic Clemency
Available for students who have been away from UMD for five calendar years.
Interrupted Degree
For students who have been away from UMD for more than 10 years.

Take advantage of tutoring and academic support services to strengthen your academic success.

9. Use the GPA calculator
Use the GPA calculator to determine what grades are needed to reach your desired GPA (e.g., 2.00 for students on probation or dismissal).
